How to catch Chimchar

Players can catch Chimchar with Pokéballs just like any of the game’s other creatures. We found the regular Pokéballs effective for early game players seeking to add this Pokémon to their team. Players can also battle these Pokémon for additional experience and increase the capture chance for Chimchar. Bring along a Water-type Pokémon to make quick work of this flame-clad Pokémon and negate its Fire-type moves.

Chimchar’s Evolution

Chimchar is the first of three evolutions for the fire starter. Players can evolve Chimchar by leveling it up via experience points earned via battle, captures, and having the creature in their party. Once they reach the required level for this Pokémon, be sure to head into your bag and manually trigger the evolution.

Conditions:

  • Chimchar evolves into Monferno at level 14
  • Monferno evovles into Infernape at level 36
