The Pokémon series has evolved a lot over the years, with each mainline title adding and removing features. One feature that has remained over the years is abilities. These give Pokémon unique traits that have uses inside and outside of battle. One ability you may be wondering about is Flash Fire, and what it does in Pokémon.

What does Flash Fire do in Pokémon?

Flash Fire is an ability that primarily Fire-type Pokémon have. When a Pokémon with Flash Fire is hit by a Fire-type attack, the power of their Fire-type moves will be increased by 50 percent. The Pokémon also does not take any damage from the initial attack that triggered Flash Fire.

This ability cannot be activated by subsequent Fire-type attacks but remains active as long as the Pokémon stays in battle. A good tactic for Pokémon with Flash Fire is to switch that Pokémon in when you know your opponent will be using a Fire-type attack.
