Shiny Pokémon are rare versions of Pokémon in Pokémon Go that have modified looks. They are called shiny because they generally add a slight sheen or discoloration, making them stand out more than the normal versions. Solosis will appear in the Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour on Jan 4, 2022, so Shiny Solosis, Shiny Duosion, and Shiny Reuniclus might be seen more often in Trainer Battles!

Shiny Rates

Apart from the Pokémon that don’t have shiny versions in the game, every Pokémon has a base shiny rate that tells you how often you’ll see a shiny version. Although this information is unconfirmed for them, Solosis typically has the standard shiny rate of 1 in 500 (about 0.20 percent). So, for every 500 Solosis you catch, you’ll probably only get one shiny version.

How to Get

Duosion and Reuniclus are immensely rare encounters in the wild, so the chance of randomly encountering a shiny one is essentially zero. The only way to get a Shiny Duosion or Shiny Reuniclus is to get a Shiny Solosis and evolve it.

There is no way to force a shiny version of a Pokémon to appear. Instead, players must simply play the game to hope to run into one. However, players can use a few tricks to make it easier to find them.

  • Play during events that feature Solosis. The upcoming Spotlight Hour that features Solosis will be hosted on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. Spotlight Hours do not increase the shiny rate like Community Days do, but they vastly increase the amount of Solosis you see in the wild. It’s possible to encounter hundreds of Solosis during a Spotlight Hour, so the likelihood that you’ll run into at least one shiny one is increased!
  • Search for nests. Although the information shared to the site is never 100 percent accurate, the Nest Atlas provided by The Silph Road is a good start for finding specific Pokémon. Like Spotlight Hours, Nests do not increase the shiny rate, but they increase how often you see them in the wild.
