The Total War: Warhammer series is infamous for its incredible array of mods and customization. The Steam community for Total War: Warhammer 1 & 2 have a hugely active modding community. But will that community be able to contribute to Total War: Warhammer 3 on Game Pass?

At the moment, the answer is no. Total War: Warhammer 3 will not have modding support on Game Pass on release, and it’s unlikely to do so for the time being. This is due to the DRM and other elements within Game Pass that will make modding the game more difficult than it’s Steam equivalent.

Modders are an ambitious bunch and it’s unlikely they’ll be held back for long. Additionally, it might be in Microsoft’s best interests to add modding support for Total War: Warhammer 3 on Game Pass, especially if it pushes the sales on future DLC.

Unfortunately this lack of modding support also links to another element of Total War: Warhammer 3’s shortfall on Game Pass. Because Game Pass does not have the first two games in the Total War: Warhammer series, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to play the Immortal Empire campaign, or use any of your existing DLC from Steam.
