Revenants are very dangerous Ghosts in Phasmophobia that can move at nearly twice the speed of players if they spot them. Their biggest downfall is that losing line of sight with a Revenant will cause them to slow down significantly. When the player is hidden, Revenants are among the slowest Ghosts in the game. This is how to identify a Revenant in Phasmophobia.
All Revenant Evidence in Phasmophobia
The Revenant‘s unique set of evidence is Ghost Orbs, Ghost Writing, and Freezing Temperatures. The easiest way of identifying a Revenant is by waiting for it to Hunt and examining its behavior. Unlike the Jinn, the Revenant’s ability to speed up can’t be easily turned off. Losing line of sight from the Revenant is the only way of slowing it down.
Revenant Strengths and Weaknesses and what they mean in Phasmophobia
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Revenant are written in the Journal as:
- Strength – A Revenant will travel at a significantly faster speed when hunting their prey.
- Weakness – Hiding from the Revenant will cause it to move very slowly.
The Strength of the Revenant refers to its ability to instantly gain speed when spotting a player. This will be at a speed of 3 m/s and can’t be outrun as the player can only sprint for about 5 seconds. If the player manages to break line of sight, the Revenant will begin to slow down.

The weakness of the Revenant is very noticeable. If the player is hiding from the Revenant, either in a hiding spot or just out of the Ghost’s line of sight, the Revenant will move at a speed of around 1.1 m/s. This is one of the slowest Ghost speeds but both the Deogen and the Thaye can still be slower under the right circumstances.
Tips for identifying and surviving a Revenant
When faced against a Revenant, players should arm themselves with Smudge Sticks to guarantee at least one escape. Players that are aware of the possibility that they are up against a Revenant may want to preemptively hide near the Ghost Room. This makes it so that when the Ghost initiates a Hunt, they will move at their slow speed. Paying attention to how fast the Ghost is by the sound of the footsteps and how often they are heard will make identifying the Revenant very easy. Before trying this method, players should rule out the Deogen first as they are Ghosts that can also move slowly when close to the player and can see them even if they are hiding. A Thaye can also move slowly, however, this only happens over time and isn’t dependent on whether the player is hiding.
