The Compass Rose is a legendary shotgun that released with the Solstice of Heroes 2021 event in Destiny 2. In order to get this weapon, you’ll need to open Solstice Packages, which require lots and lots of Solstice Key Fragments.

Players can get their hands on Solstice Packages by participating in the Solstice of Heroes activity: European Aerial Zone, accessible from the Tower. The EAZ is a matchmaking activity that requires your fireteam to beat as many bosses within a certain time period. The more bosses you defeat, the more Solstice Packages will be awarded.

After the timer runs out on the boss section of EAZ, chests will spawn throughout the map. The amount of chests that spawn correspond to how many bosses your team defeated. Opening these chests will grant you the Solstice Packages you’ve been hunting for, in addition to Solstice Key Fragments.

But, Solstice Packages will remain locked until you’ve collected some Solstice Key Fragments. It requires 15 Solstice Key Fragments to open one package, but it’s pretty easy to get the fragments.

Solstice Key Fragments can be acquired by playing the EAZ activity. But they can also be picked up by simply playing the game the way you normally go about your business. Here’s a full list of all the ways you can acquire these fragments:

  • European Aerial Zone activity
  • Completing Eva Levante bounties
  • Crucible matches
  • Strike playlists

Opening a Solstice Package is the only way to get the Compass Rose shotgun. But, you aren’t guaranteed a shotgun for every package you open. There are other rewards that can be acquired like armor, weapons, material, and Solstice gear, thus making the shotgun’s drop rate random.

If you plan on playing Solstice of Heroes across the entire month, then you’ll want to start farming for a god roll Compass Rose as soon as possible.
