Enchantments grant special abilities to any tool, weapon, or armor in Minecraft. But often, players also wish to remove a particular enchantment from their respective items upon finding better ones. In such situations, you can remove the ability from any game item using the disenchantment feature. To disenchant in Minecraft, you will need a grindstone and the enchanted item.

Disenchantment using a grindstone

First and foremost, you will need to craft a grindstone. To make a grindstone in Minecraft, you will require 2 wooden planks 2 sticks, and 1 stone slab.

  • Wooden planks  You can easily get some wooden logs by chopping down a tree. The logs can be further processed in crafting tables as wooden planks.
  • Sticks  Similar to wooden planks, wooden logs can also be used to craft sticks.
  • Stone slab  Out of all the ingredients, the stone slab is a bit difficult to craft. To start with, you will need to make a furnace. Break some cobblestone and arrange in the following order to make a furnace.

Place any fuel and some cobblestone inside the furnace to make a stone and arrange the crafted stone in the below order to get a stone slab.

Once your stone slab is ready, take a 3×3 crafting table and arrange all the ingredients for Grindstone as shown in the image below.

Now, place any enchanted weapon, armor, or tools inside the grindstone and disenchant it.

Remember, you cannot bring back the old enchantment on any item after putting it through a grindstone. Please think twice before disenchanting any item.
