It is up to a player how much time they want to put into Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. To avoid spoiling any endgame information, the only objective is to get your apes to the point where they evolve into humans.

However, if you were trying to evolve and reach the end in a reasonable amount of time, it would take around 40 to 50 hours. The game takes place over eight million years, and players can decide how quickly time passes. Resting can last a night or a generation, so a lot depends on the player.

There is also the fact that it is somewhat of a roguelike game. When all members of the clan die, the player has to start from scratch. Dying would be part of a solo game session rather than the aforementioned forty to fifty hours.

We recommend using a controller since that’s how the game was designed as well as making sure you have plenty of time. There can be a long time between play sessions, so be prepared to spend at least 10 minutes per play session.
