In Stardew Valley, it can be a hassle trying to figure out which crops net you the most profit each season. Unfortunately, there are no crops that grow in the Winter, except for Winter forage items that are grown from Winter Seeds. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t make any money!

During the winter, the only way to make money from crops is to use a greenhouse on your farm. Greenhouses will grow any crop all year long. If you have one, use the list below to see which plants will provide you the most profit when they’re sold.

Coffee Beans

Coffee Beans are technically the most profitable crops in the game, but they are meant to grow in the Spring or Summer. One coffee bean yields four more coffee beans with each harvest. Once matured, they only take two days to regrow after each harvest. Since each harvested coffee bean acts as its own seed for a new coffee plant, the best way to profit from them is to use the first year to get as many coffee beans as possible, then use them to mass produce coffee beans in the second year.

Coffee Beans can be dropped by Dust Mites (1% chance), or sold by the Travelling Merchant for 2500 gold. Five Coffee Beans can be placed into a keg to turn them into coffee, which sells for 150 gold. Since creating a coffee farm really only requires an initial investment of 2500 gold (unless a Dust Mite drops it for you), it’s considered the most profitable crop.

Ancient Fruit

Ancient Fruit is largely considered to be the most profitable crop over Coffee Beans because in the Greenhouse, the potential for profit from Coffee Beans is severely limited by space. For each square, Ancient Fruit makes the most profit for any crop that can harvested multiple times. Ancient Fruit plants take 28 days to grow, but keep producing a new Ancient Fruit every seven days thereafter. Each Ancient Fruit sells for a minimum of 550 gold.

The only downside to farming these is that it’s difficult to get the plants in mass quantities. Seeds are sold by the Travelling Merchant for anywhere from 100 gold to 1,000 gold and she doesn’t always have them in stock.

Pineapples

Pineapples are have a high profit-to-cost ratio, but are more difficult to get than most other crops. They mature after 14 days, then produce a new Pineapple every seven days after harvest. If placed in a greenhouse and grown all year, Pineapple farms are some of the most productive farms available in the game. Each seed for a Pineapple plant costs one Magma Cap with the Ginger Island Trader, and each pineapple the plant produces sells for a minimum of 300 gold.

Special Mention: Sweet Berry Gem

As with all things, there are excepts to the rule. When speaking only in terms of direct profit, the Sweet Berry Gem is the most profitable crop. The seeds are bought for 1000 gold, and the plant is sold for a minimum of 3000 gold. However, the Rare Seed is literally rare and can’t be replenished naturally, which means this crop is only profitable once.
