Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker released on Dec. 7, 2021, adding more story, dungeons, content, and ofcourse Trials. Trials are instanced eight-man boss fights that make up most of Final Fantasy XIV’s most dramatic fights. They also represent the middle-tier of difficulty content, landing somewhere between dungeons and raids.
Endwalker adds five total Trials. Three mainline story Trials which take place during the Main Story Quest (MSQ), and two High-end Trials.

Main Story Trials
- The Dark Inside – Level 83
- The Mothercrystal – Level 89
- The Final Day – Level 90, Item-level 540 required
High-end Trials
- The Minstrel’s Ballad: Zodiark’s Fall – Level 90, Item-level 560 required
- The Minstrel’s Ballad: Hydaelyn’s Call – Level 90, Item-level 560 required
The first three of these trials are unlocked by playing through the MSQ.
The final pair can be unlocked after you’ve complete the final quest of the MSQ. Travel to Old Sharlayan, and seek out the Wandering Minstrel NPC near the Scholar’s Harbor. He will have a quest called I Wandered Sharlayan as a Minstrel. Talk to him to complete this quest.
After this, you’ll have to speak to him again, and talk to him in turn about Hydaelyn and Zodiark. These will unlock their respective Trials after a brief cutscene.
