Darkest Dungeon 2 is the sequel to acclaimed Darkest Dungeon, which was released back in 2016. It shares many similarities with its predecessor but does make some changes and additions. This can be seen throughout the game as well as some familiar things. One that fits into both of these categories is the available characters in Darkest Dungeon 2.
In total, there are nine characters to choose from in the early access build. Of these nine, players only have four to choose from. Before starting a run, players must select four characters to place into their team and in which spot they will go. You can see all nine characters in Darkest Dungeon below.

Of the nine characters, only the Runaway is a newcomer. Red Hook Games intends to add more new characters as the game progresses through early access. Once you have all characters available, building a mix of offense, defense, and support is good. Additionally, while some characters perform well in any position, try to keep your support in the backline and defense in the front line.
